The Greater Sayville Food Pantry is in its 20th year and is under the direction of Charlene Lehmann. The pantry serves about 350 families a month and differs from other pantries in that they are not emergency-based and will provide food for 2 weeks rather than just a few days. It was my absolute pleasure to be able to donate some items to the pantry as well as take a tour and see just how hard Charlene and her team of volunteers work for our community. “We aren’t just a typical food pantry, we also are able to help people get their cell phone bills paid, or provide families with gift cards, or other financial support to help them through a tough time,” says Charlene.
The Greater Sayville Food Pantry is located at 47 Gillette Avenue, Sayville NY and operates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. There is no ID required to request services, and the pantry is open to people from all over Long Island.
