Post Parade Service Honors Veterans

On Monday, May 25 at 10 a.m., the American Legion Post 651 and Sayville VFW Post 433 held a service after the annual Sayville Memorial Day Parade in Sparrow Park. Attendants commemorated veterans and fallen soldiers by taking a moment to observe the men and women’s sacrifice in this ceremony.

Joan Furey, a member of Sayville’s VFW Post 433, began the memorial service by explaining the importance of observing veterans’ service to the country. She said, “Vietnam veterans did not receive a warm welcome home… So it’s good to have such a welcoming community for a day like today.”
